Maya was Born in Tokyo, then moved to Yokohama in her early teens. Although Maya started taking Ballet lessons at the age of 3, it was from around the age of 14 that she began to seriously study

Ballet, Jazz and Singing.

 

After visiting both Broadway and the West End and having seen many shows, Maya decided a career in Musical Theatre was a path she wanted to follow.

In 1999 Maya began studying at the London Studio Centre, however, before the end of her first year, Maya had auditioned and was accepted for a part in "Miss Saigon".  

She spent the next 3 years touring the UK with "Miss Saigon",

as well as another year touring with "The King and I".

​

Maya began her Ballroom Dancing career in 2006 after making the decision to move back to Japan with Matthew.
