We are both Professional Ballroom Dancers Specializing in Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, Quickstep & Viennese Waltz.
Matthew spent his formative years studying Classical Sequence Dance, which includes; Saunter, Two Step, Tango, Old Time Waltz & Gavottes.
Maya was Born in Tokyo, then moved to Yokohama in her early teens. Although Maya started taking Ballet lessons at the age of 3, it was from around the age of 14 that she began to seriously study Ballet, Jazz and Singing.
After visiting both Broadway and the West End and having seen many shows, Maya decided a career in Musical Theatre was a path she wanted to follow.
In 1999 Maya began studying at the London Studio Centre, however, before the end of her first year, Maya had auditioned and was accepted for a part in "Miss Saigon". She spent the next 3 years touring the UK with "Miss Saigon", as well as another year touring with "The King and I".
Maya began her Ballroom Dancing career in 2006 after making the decision to move back to Japan with Matthew.
Matthew was born in Welwyn Garden City, England.
At the age of 6 Matthew began studying Old Time Sequence Dancing & Modern Sequence Dancing. Over the years, Matthew danced in many competitions, first as a Juvenile, then a Junior and last as an Amateur Competitor, finishing his Sequence Dance career at the age of 19 as under 21 Amateur champion.
Matthew, having found a love for performance art, began a 3 year scholarship at the Academy of Live & Recorded Arts in London. In his final year, Matthew & Maya met at the Royal Albert Hall, where they were both working as part of an ensemble cast of dancers performing with "London Theatre of Ballroom".
Over the next few years Matthew was involved with numerous small projects, as well as a 3 month tour in the theatre production of "Ballroom".
In 2006 both Matthew & Maya decided to make the life changing decision of moving to Japan, it was here that they started their Ballroom Career, turning Professional in 2008.
